American Society of Civil Engineers
West Virginia University ASCE is recognized throughout the region for its significant contributions and dedication to the advancement of science and education in the professional and academic world of Civil Engineering.
The purpose of WVU-ASCE is to promote the interaction between graduate and undergraduate students with industry professionals. This interaction is vital to the success of young engineers preparing to enter into the field. These goals are achieved through activities aimed toward enhancing student’s leadership skills, teamwork ability, engineering sense and overall professionalism.
The WVU student chapter of ASCE, Chapter 9504, was issued a “2005 Certificate of Commendation” which was recognition by the Committee on Student Activities as an outstanding student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers. The award of this certificate was sparked by a “2005 Letter of Significant Improvement.” Both the award and the letter are based on review of the 2004 Annual Report, which was put together by the chapter officers and their faculty advisors and submitted to the Committee on Student Activities at the national headquarters of ASCE.
The Society recognizes and sincerely appreciates personal contributions, enthusiasm, and hard work, which result in outstanding Student Chapter programs such as WVU’s.
