Admission Requirements

Admission to the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources is based on a combination of high school grade-point average (unweighted 4.0 scale) and ACT or SAT scores. The following list summarizes the admission requirements.

West Virginia residents with 2.00 to 2.99

• ACT Composite 19
• ACT Math 24
• SAT Total 910
• SAT Math 520

West Virginia residents with 3.00 to 4.00

• ACT Composite 19
• ACT Math 20
• SAT Total 910
• SAT Math 480

Out of state residents with 2.25 to 4.00

• ACT Composite 20
• ACT Math 24
• SAT Total 950
• SAT Math 520

In addition, students must have completed and have credit for the following high school courses:

• Four units of English (including grammar, composition, and literature)
• Three units of social studies (including U.S. history)
• Three units of college preparatory mathematics (algebra I and II and geometry)
• Two units of laboratory sciences (including physics, chemistry, biology, or other laboratory courses)
