A message from
Interim Chair Darrell Dean

Greetings from Civil and Environmental Engineering! Our department produces quality graduates at the BS, MS, and PhD levels, conducts research that is advancing the state of the art and practice, and serves the people of West Virginia and the nation.

We currently have approximately 190 undergraduate students and 70 graduate students pursuing degrees. At the undergraduate level, CEE students study a comprehensive, yet flexible curriculum with substantial opportunities for extra-curricular education and professional development. At the graduate level, nearly all graduate students are on teaching assistantships or research assistantships. These students also play an active role in sponsored research. Over the past several years, the placement rate of CEE graduates, both undergraduate and graduate, has been nearly 100%. Our students find employment in consulting, federal and state agencies, industry and academics.

There are 19 full-time CEE faculty members, all of whom hold PhDs and are recognized experts in their fields. Our faculty have won teaching and research awards at the college, university, state, and national levels and are dedicated to the success of our students and the advancement of our field. The Department is also served by a dedicated support staff who work diligently to serve faculty and students.
